Anthropic has unveiled their latest AI model, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, which attempts to compete with top models from OpenAI and Google. This new approach is currently available to online and iOS users, as well as developers who want to integrate it into their applications.
The Claude 3.5 Sonnet is positioned in the center of Anthropic’s inventory, sandwiched between the smaller Haiku and the high-end Opus. Interestingly, while being a mid-tier model, the Claude 3.5 Sonnet beats the preceding high-end model, the 3 Opus, by a wide amount. Furthermore, it is twice as quick as its predecessor, which might provide a significant advantage in a variety of applications.
When it comes to benchmarks, Claude 3.5 Sonnet delivers amazing results. It outperformed GPT-4o, Gemini 1.5 Pro, and Meta’s Llama 3 400B in seven of nine total benchmarks and four of five vision benchmarks.
